Yes, here comes my contribution:
The-end-of-the-year-recap, the list with what I’d like to stop/continue/start in 2012, the absurd assumption that because the year’s last number changes from 1 to 2, there is a severe need to publish an update.
Although I know, that every minute of your life could be THE moment to look inward
to consciously check if your pursuing your actual needs and wishes in life,
I actually do love the mix of melancholily looking back to the past and excitingly planning
ahead, while being very, let me say, very happy about the things to come.
While The Petticoats bookings are continuing to fill this year’s agenda and my university courses keep me busy, I got involved into a Napoletanean Music Project and a latin lounge collaboration -that amongst being very nice to do- also inspire me for the recording and performance process of my own songs.
I hope, that I will be able to update the site very soon with more specific info, media and tour dates so that you can come check us out.
In the meantime, you’re more than welcome to have a look at a compilation of my graduation concert, until the rest of the videos will be available.
Last but not least…I cannot nor want to complain.
My life and the people in it are treating me well, most of the time I am stunned about all the things I still want to learn and how much more there is to discover by looking behind the facade. Let’s hope, that 2012 will help us to continue to become a little wiser and a little nicer to the ones around us.
Even if one week too late, still my very best wishes for 2012!
With much love, health and a lot of fun!
Katharina
I most sincerely believe, that while trying to find your way in our short but intense life, Things Always Happen For A Reason.
After a busy period with Sharp ending 2nd on The Sing Off, The Petticoats and teaching, I could not wait to spend some days with my family in Italy. For me always an important zoom out experience – not only to get my focus back on what I want to do the upcoming months, but also to take time to recapitulate my values in life.
Organizational and internal differences are the reasons why I decided to leave Sharp, taking it for what it is: an interesting and revealing experience I wouldn’t want to miss.
Staying true to yourself and to what you consider important cannot always be compatible with everyone around you.
I find, that the older you get, these perspectives on life are becoming sharper, your personality turns more profound and your moral views become your existential guide line.
How important this development might be for discovering and creating your identity, on the other hand I also find it very intriguing to confront myself with new situations.
Enschede has been a fantastic place to live for me these last past years.
A welcoming and open city to me as young foreign music student and place of encounter for new and dear friends.
But the world is big and life is short – right now I am researching which city and culture I would like to explore next.
Til then I can tell you that although you haven’t heard about it for some time, there is movement concerning my music which I hope I can tell you about pretty pretty soon.
Enjoy your summer!
Love, Katharina
What an exiting, busy and bizarre period!
Last year‘s plans for this spring were to travel around in South America and explore.
Music. Culture. People.
Who would have thought that the adventure would be right in front of my door?
During the last few months so many new impressions basically rolled over me, that I regularly squeeze myself, making sure to absorb every particle of this overwhelming happening.
In between all the preparations we all willingly put into the show, sitting down and enjoying the beauty of the moment has become number one priority.
Nevertheless, not everything is what it seems, sometimes decisions are made that you hardly can nor want to understand.
All you can do is give all you have, once you are on stage and hope the message delivers itself.
No matter how far Sharp! will make it on that program, this experience and the people in it have taught me a lot!
Life’s good!
Love, Katharina
